Claridge’s

Claridge's is a luxury hotel in Mayfair, central London. It is found at the corner of Brook Street and Davies Street. Richard D'Oyly Carte, the dramatic impresario and founding father of the rival Savoy Hotel , purchased Claridge's in 1894, as an element of The Savoy Group, and immediately thereafter demolished the old buildings and replaced them with the present ones. The key cafe is at present run by Gordon Ramsay and his head cook Steve Allen who replaced Mark Sergeant.
Michelin starred Northern Irish Cook Michael Deane also started his career at the eateries. Claridge's offers afternoon tea and has been advised by the Tea Guild.
Claridge's has 2 ground floor bars: a main bar and a cigar bar called the Fumier. A multitude of drinks and cocktails are available here and a good stock of well-stored Cuban cigars is kept in every one of the bar's humidors. In 2005, The Savoy Group, including Claridge's, was sold to Quinlan Non-public, which sold off the Savoy Hotel and Savoy Theatre and renamed the group Maybourne Hotel Group.
In 2007 Claridge's gained worldwide media coverage by introducing Water Menu containing various bottled waters sourced worldwide and from the UK like Malmberg and Iskilde. As of 2009, Claridge's remains owned and managed by Maybourne Hotel Group, which also includes 2 other five-star luxury hotels in London, The Berkeley and The Connaught.
Claridge's is a critical element of London's history. Stars, crowned heads and the socialites of Europe have enjoyed this five star hotel for over 100 years. Some of the planet's best designers have left their mark on Claridge's. Original features mingle with clearly modern twists, refining the effortless Art Deco subtlety that makes London's best hotel so special. A stay at Claridge's is an experience no one can forget. The dedicated staff will make sure every impulse is catered for.
