One Aldwych

One Aldwych is a luxury five-star hotel in London, Britain. Set up by Gordon Campbell Grey, One Aldwych lies in the Aldwych in Covent Garden in Town of Westminster. Found in a building created in 1907 by the same designers who designed The Ritz, the hotel is in the Edwardian style. It is found on the corner of The Aldwych and Wellington Street, diagonally opposite to the Novello Theatre and opposite the London Transport Museum.

The Waldorf Hilton is just meters away on the same side of The Aldwych. For a number of years the building was employed for The Morning Post paper office purposes. In 1998 the hotel was revived by Jestico Whiles Associates who purposefully kept its Edwardian style, and also included Louis XVI ornaments to furnish it, including a four hundred piece art collection.

The exterior is also made of Norwegian granite. The hotel contains 105 rooms and apartments. The rooms are described by Forsaken Planet as being "roomy and classy with natural tones and modern art, raw silk curtains, with bath tubs large enough for two".

One Aldwych contains 2 restaurants, The Axis and Indigo and 2 bars, The Lobby Bar and The Cinnamon Bar. The Axis eatery serves English cuisine and a conventional English breakfast. The Lobby Bar is found in the grand high-ceilinged lobby which was once the reception area to the previous paper building.

Today guests enjoy an artfully easy layout that includes trendy minimalist furniture, massive bay windows, masses of flowers, and a lot of modern art. The bedrooms are sumptuous, embellished with stylish linens and rich colors, and accessorized with raw-silk curtains and luxury furniture. There are original pieces of art in each room, together with fresh fruit and flowers supplied daily. On Fri. and Saturday evenings, and Sunday at brunch, flicks are shown in the screening room.
